Influence of Rendersize

As the two pictures by joshus_hund illustrate, the size of the render has a very big influence on the quality of water in the final picture!

Influence of  Metres Point Spacing (mps)

Submitted by inkydigit: The bigger the mps is set, the smaller will the features of the water appear.

What is a Patch?

Patches

A Patch is an area with similar type of waveform. As you can see in the picture above, there are areas, where the waves a flat (Patch F). These areas appear darker in direct reflection, as you can see in the right and brighter in the distance as can be seen in the upper part of the image.

The other type of patch contains more rough waves (Patch R). These areas are very bright in direct reflection (on the right), but apper darker in the distance.

These sliders have influence on the patches

Wave Variation Changes the height difference between the to types of patch
Patch Size Changes the size of the patches
Patch Sharpness Sets the sharpness of the transition between the patches
Distort by Terrain Sets the influence of the underwater terrain on  the patch form
